The Commemorative Air Force Museum in Dallas, TX, is a 48,000-square-foot facility dedicated to preserving aviation history and inspiring future generations. The museum features a 30,000-square-foot historic aircraft hangar, exhibits showcasing World War II aircraft, an extensive collection of aircraft nose art, and hands-on STEM educational programs.
Working with KH Architects Commercial Design, Alliance Steel supplied structural framing and metal building components for the museum’s distinctive design. To achieve the curved roofline, our team provided segmented framing that created the desired profile without the expense of curved structural members. The building incorporates MBCI roof panels on the curved sections, AllianceSeam-24 panels on the remaining roof areas, 7.2 and C-Panel wall panels, PBR liner panels, and A-12 soffit panels.
Our scope also included an open-air pavilion featuring specialized jack beam and portal framing to maximize unobstructed space. Together, these structural solutions and building components helped create a facility that accommodates historic aircraft, educational exhibits, and community events while reflecting the museum’s aviation heritage.
